Located at the eastern foot of the Utsunoya Pass, this place had many teahouses lined up as a resting place for travelers preparing to cross the pass. The beautiful townscape of the former Tokaido remains to this day. The haori shop in the village is named after Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who praised their loyalty and gave him a haori. It is said that Tokugawa Ieyasu later visited and gifted tea bowls, and it is said that daimyo (feudal lords) visited the teahouse as it was considered to be auspicious.
