Kambara-shuku
This merchant house was partially destroyed in the Ansei great earthquakes of 1854 - 1855, and rebuilt in 1855. It has townhouse architecture typical of the Edo period (1603 - 1868), with a narrow frontage and an earthen floor leading to the back. The latticed shutters, staircase chest, hearth, and other furnishings remain as they were built, and are registered as National registered tangible cultural properties. Inside the building, everyday items used in the Shida residence since the Edo period are on display, along with records such as maps created by the Tokugawa Shogunate.
