The most scenic spot on the Tokaido road, admired by many travelers
Satta Pass is said to be the most scenic spot on the Tokaido Road, and has appealed to visitors since the Edo period (1603 - 1868). Mount Fuji in all its majesty and the capitvating blue of Suruga Bay are depicted in The Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido: Yui (Satta Pass), the ukiyo-e by Utagawa Hiroshige, and even now visitors can enjoy the scenery as it is depicted in ukiyo-e. At the foot of the pass, there is Aino-shuku Nishikurasawa, location of a tea house where travelers stopped to rest, and traces of the old days can be seen all around.
